welcome to cameroon!

What a welcome to Cameroon we received! Farmer Tantoh and his friend, Ivo, picked us up at the airport and brought us to a friend’s apartment where his wife Quinta and three sons (Smith (6), Godwill (4) and Favor (2) were waiting for us.  Quinta had prepared a delicious feast – fou fou (which reminded us of polenta), fried vegetables (huckleberries, onions, leeks, tomatoes) chicken and papaya. We are excited to explore Yaounde, the capital city of Cameroon, tomorrow!

Dom - that’s a great question! Farmer Tantoh visited this zoo before and taught the bird how to say “Farmer.” It must be a really smart bird!
See you in a couple weeks!

HI! We miss you! Have you gone to Farmer Tantoh's kids school yet? Did you really eat snails? Hope you have a good time!

Are you the only American person in Cameroon? And did you eat a snail?

Hi Alyssa,

There are other Americans in Cameroon, but not many! And yes, I ate four snails and they were delicious!!
Thanks for writing!

Hi Datavion,

Those are great questions! I like the food - I just had ice cream today! I think I like the plantains the best. Almost all of the people in Cameroon are black. Their skin color is very similar to yours!
Thanks for posting questions -

We heard the parrot say Farmer Tantoh.
We have been enjoying reading the blog and working on associated new vocabulary words. So far our second grade speech/language group has learned:
purchased
primate
sanctuary
currency
plantains
agriculture

They want to tell Mrs.Rice that they miss her and they hope the trip has been good so far :)
